how do you label your vials and cartridges?

Who else has had the panic moment of grabbing the wrong vial? What do you use to label your stuff? Thinking of getting a label maker, but not sure if I need one. Do you guys use stickers, markers, or something else? Share your setups and tips!

Label makers are a game changer for organizing your research stash. I use one with waterproof labels so they don't smear if there's condensation in the fridge. Tried sharpies before, but they fade over time or rub off. Anyone else just end up with a collection of mystery vials at some point?
